This vintage bottle of Châteaux Lafite-Rothschild 1869 become the world’s most expensive wine, sold for a record price $232,692 at Sotheby’s wine auctions in Hong Kong. Lafite came top of the first official quality-based classification of Medoc wines in 1855. The chateau was bought by Baron James de Rothschild in 1868, and bottles have since been labeled Lafite-Rothschild. The auction house held a record wine sale that brought 5.4 million Hong Kong dollars (US$8.4 million).

Pauillac AOC was created in 1936, so (if the image here is of the sold bottle) this is a fake Lafite-Rothschild.
