Jaguar XKR-S GT: 550PS of Supercharged Fury

Meet the Jaguar XKR-S GT, the angriest version of the XKR-S yet. This street-legal, track-ready machine is powered by Jaguar’s proven supercharged 5.0-litre V8 pushing out 550PS and 680Nm of torque. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph takes just 3.9 seconds, which is properly quick for something you can drive home from the circuit.

Jaguar’s in-house ETO special product division handled the development and the aero package shows it. Up front there is a carbon-fibre splitter, the wheel arches get extended spats, and out back you will find an elevated rear wing sitting above a rear diffuser. An aluminium undertray ties it all together underneath. The suspension and dampers are bespoke and fully adaptive to road conditions and driving modes, so it should behave itself on the commute too.

Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s Global Brand Director, sums up the thinking behind it:  “The XKR-S GT is the most extreme iteration of the Jaguar R Brand’s performance focus. Utilising race-car derived technology, all-aluminium construction and an uncompromised approach to aerodynamic efficiency, the result is a car as capable on the track as it is exhilarating on the road.”

Here is the catch. The 2014 Jaguar XKR-S GT is limited to just 30 units for North America, split into 25 for the United States and 5 for Canada. It goes on sale in August with a starting price of $174,000. If you want one, I would start making calls now.

Jaguar’s momentum that year didn’t stop with the XKR-S GT — later in 2013, the brand also unveiled the C-X17, a sports crossover concept that signaled the company’s first steps toward an SUV.
