Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is auctioning off the first tweet ever as a NFT, or Non-Fungible Tokens, through a platform called Valuables, and currently the highest bid is $2.5 million from Bridge Oracle CEO Sina Estavi.
Published nearly 15 years ago, the tweet reads, “just setting up my twttr.” The buyer will receive a certificate, digitally signed and verified by Mr Dorsey, as well as the metadata of the original tweet.

Who would have thought that a Tweet from 2006 could reach as much as 2.5M? Lately the crypto collectibles have exploded in popularity, Christie’s last month became the first major auction house to sell a standalone NFT artwork.
*UPDATE – The world’s first tweet was sold for $2,915,835.47 to @sinaEstavi.
*UPDATE 2 : Last week, Estavi listed the NFT for sale at $48 million USD and pledged 50% of its proceeds (which he thought would exceed $25 million) to charity.
I decided to sell this NFT ( the world’s first ever tweet ) and donate 50% of the proceeds ( $25 million or more ) to the charity @GiveDirectly
