After Leica M9 Ostrich Leather, Leica has pulled the wraps off something even more striking. The new M9 Titanium takes the semi-professional M9 and gives it a full design overhaul courtesy of Walter de’Silva and his team at Audi. This isn’t just a cosmetic refresh. Every detail of the body has been reworked in titanium, from the top plate to the control dials, giving the camera a look and feel unlike anything else in Leica’s lineup.
The package includes a 35mm Summilux F/1.4 prime lens matched to the body, so you’re getting a complete shooting setup straight out of the box. Here’s the catch. Only 500 units will ever be made and the European price sits at €22,000, or roughly $28,730. Leica has since confirmed U.S. pricing at $26,500 with availability starting November 2010.
If you want one, you’ll need to move fast. Collectors rarely let these sit around for long.
