The Devon Tread 1 does not look like other watches. That is the whole point. It was designed and built in California by an aerospace company, and it shows. Inside the case sits a motor running a belt driven mechanism, plus a rechargeable battery that tops up wirelessly. None of it behaves the way a normal watch movement does, which is exactly why people stare at it.
Devon calls the result bold, progressive and bulletproof. For once the press release language undersells the thing.
Price: $15,000. For that you get a timepiece that looks like it belongs on the wrist of someone who builds rockets. Which, in a way, it does.
