A German shipyard launched Azzam, the world’s largest private yacht. Azzam, which means dedication in Arabic, was designed by Milan-based Nauta Yachts and meticulously constructed by Lürssen Yachts in Bremen under the personal guidance of Engineer Mubarak Saad al Ahbabi. At 180 meters (or 590ft), Azzam is 17m (or 57ft) longer than Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich’s superyacht Eclipse.
It took one year to design the yacht and three years to build it, Lürssen Managing Partner Peter Lürssen proudly said: “When she will be delivered later this year, she will have been in build for only three years following one year of engineering.” “She truly represents another milestone in not only our history but yachting history as well” he adds.
Little is known about the interior, though we know it’s in the hands of French interior designer Christophe Leoni, “Though Yachting is not my main area of business, I thoroughly enjoyed the cooperation with Nauta and Lürssen and am confident that the final yacht is everything and more the owner expects.” he said.
Priced at $600 million , this incredible mega-yacht ‘Project Azzam’, is believed to be commissioned by the Saudi Royal family. Azzam, the facts: length 180m / 590’4’’, beam 20.8 m / 68’22’’, draft 4.3 m / 15’8”, speed 30+ knots, 94000 horsepower!
