Leica has announced the Leica X Vario, a compact digital camera with a body machined from magnesium and aluminum alloy with premium leather trim. The X Vario features a 16-megapixel APS-C sensor (same as the Leica X2) and a Leica Vario-Elmar 18–46 mm zoom lens (28–70 mm equivalent in 35 mm format) with an f/3.5–6.4 aperture. The camera is capable of shooting high-resolution stills and 1080p Full HD video. The Leica X Vario is priced at £2,150 (approximately US$3,340) and is available to order from Leica dealers today.
