Leica has announced a new compact digital camera, the Leica X Vario. With a body machined from magnesium and aluminum alloy, along with a premium leather trim, the Leica X Vario uses the same 16 million pixel APS-C format sensor as the Leica X2, and features a Leica Vario-Elmar 18-46mm zoom lens (corresponds to 28-70 mm in 35 mm format) with an F/3.5-6.4 aperture. The Leica X Vario is capable of shooting high-resolution stills as well as 1080p Full HD videos. The Vario X is priced at £2,150 (around US$3,340). It is available to order from Leica dealers today.
