Porsche introduced a classic 911 body style at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit: the 911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S — and they look fantastic. Just like the legendary original 911 Targa of 1965, the new models feature the distinctive Targa roof bar, a movable front roof section, and a wraparound rear window. However, unlike the original, the new Targa’s roof system is fully automatic.
Powering the 2014 911 Targa 4 is a 3.4-liter flat-six engine producing 350 horsepower and 287 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0–62 mph sprint in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 175 mph. The 911 Targa 4S features a 3.8-liter flat-six engine generating 400 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque, with a 0–62 mph time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 183 mph.
Both models come equipped with all-wheel drive, making the 911 Targa well-suited for all-weather conditions.
The 911 Targa 4 has an MSRP of $101,600, while the 911 Targa 4S starts at $116,200 (excluding a $995 destination charge). U.S. deliveries are scheduled to begin this summer.
