Legendary NYC restaurant Serendipity 3 has created the world’s most expensive grilled cheese sandwich, costing a whopping $214. The sumptuous sandwich is made with the finest ingredients such as Dom Pérignon champagne, lobster and truffle oil, and features a 24-carat gold border. Inside, you’ve got layers of Caciocavallo Podolico Cheese, made in southern Italy from the milk of the Podolica cow.
“We wanted to create the world’s most expensive sandwich and decided to make it a grilled cheese—because that is the quintessential sandwich,” said Chef and creator Joe Calderone at the exclusive Serendipity 3.
