This flawless Fancy Vivid Blue diamond weighing 12.03 carats and described by experts as internally flawless is set to become one of the world’s most expensive gems. Estimated to sell for $35-55 million USD, this will be the centrepiece of the auction of Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels in Geneva on 11 November 2015.
“While any diamond with natural blue coloration is a rare discovery, some are so exceptional that they emerge only once in a lifetime. The Blue Moon Diamond is one of those remarkable occurrences,” said the Gemological Institute of America of the diamond.
The cushion brilliant-cut stone nicknamed the Blue Moon Diamond will be exhibited in Hong Kong, London and New York before its likely purchase at auction in Geneva.
