The British luxury carmaker has revealed at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este, its latest custom – the Rolls-Royce Sweptail. Inspired by the luxury yachts of the 1920s and ’30s, the two-seater coupe was commissioned in 2013 by a “valued” Rolls-Royce customer.
“Sweptail is a truly magnificent car,” crowed Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Rolls-Royce CEO. “It exudes the romance of travel for its own sake, and immediately places ‘Sweptail’ in the pantheon of the world’s great intercontinental tourers. Rolls-Royce’s history as the world’s leading coachbuilder is at the very core of its identity as the world’s leading luxury brand.”
The interior is “ruled by a philosophy of simplicity and minimalism leading to a distillation of componentry and a purification of clutter,” as Rolls puts it.
This one-off custom build is going to cost around $13million – which would make it the most expensive new car ever sold.
