After months of teasing, Mercedes-Benz has finally unveiled the production version of its first luxury pickup, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class. The design is muscular and dominant but still evocative of luxury, the X-Class comes in nine colors and will be available in three forms, the “Pure” model, the luxurious “Progressive,” and the stylish “Power.”
“With the Mercedes-Benz pickup, we will close one of the last gaps in our portfolio. Our target: we want to offer customers vehicles matching their specific needs. The X-Class will set new standards in a growing segment.” said Dr Dieter Zetsche in a press release.
The German automaker is offering the X-Class with four engines, diesel X 220 d (120 kW/163 hp) and X 250 d (140 kW/190 hp) as well as a petrol engine (122 kW/165 hp). A high-torque V6 diesel engine with 190 kW/258 hp and a maximum torque of 550 Nm will be released mid-2018, ensuring even greater agility on- and off-road. There are three transmissions, a six-speed manual and two seven-speed automatics.
The X-Class it’s expected to go on sale in Germany this November, starting at €37,294 ($43,106 USD).
