The American automaker takes it back to the ’60s to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their 1968 and 1969 Le Mans victories, with a street-legal supercar, the 2019 Ford GT Heritage Edition. At the exterior the savage beast features the legendary American Gulf Oil-sponsored blue and orange paint scheme, while at the interior the seats, instrument panel, pillars, headliner and steering wheel are wrapped in Ebony Alcantara.
“Many view the Gulf Oil paint scheme as the most famous in motorsports,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president, global operations. “The 1968 GT40 quickly became a global sensation after beating its European competitors on the track four times in a row, and in honor of the 50th anniversary of its win, we’re paying fresh tribute to the original with a new heritage limited edition.”
The Heritage Edition sports unique 20-inch one-piece forged aluminum wheels in high-gloss and features exposed carbon fiber A-pillars. For now Ford hasn’t stated production numbers or a price tag.
Any takers?
