1967 Jaguar Pirana by Bertone

This 1967 Jaguar Pirana by Bertone is one of the weirdest concepts ever produced. Starting out as a brand new 4.2-litre 2+2 from Jaguar, it was designed by the legendary Marcello Gandini, and commissioned by the British newspaper the Daily Telegraph for the 1967 London Motor show at Earl’s Court. The concept will be offered at auction without reserve during the RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction from August 15 – 17 in Monterey, California. At the interior Bertone extensively recreated the interior with a new integrated center console, redesigned seats, plenty of leather , switches and gauges.

Over the years the unique coupe has gone through several conversions, from a manual transmission to automatic before being brought back to its original specification. The fully-functional Pirana never saw production and was only exhibited to the public on rare occasions. Unfortunately, RM Sotheby’s has not publicized an estimated value for the car.  For more info watch Jay Leno’s video below or visit RM Sotheby’s website.

Any takers for this 1967 Jaguar Pirana by Bertone ?
