A cardigan worn by Kurt Cobain during Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged performance in 1993, sold for a whopping $334,000, making it the most expensive sweater to go under the hammer. The vintage olive-green cardigan, which has reportedly never been washed, was sold by Julien’s Auctions as part of their Icons & Idols: Rock ‘N’ Roll auction event at the Hard Rock Cafe New York. You can see him wearing it in the clips below.
That was one of the best live performances ever.
Kurt Cobain died by suicide at age 27, in April 1994, about six months after taping “Unplugged.”
At the same auction one of Cobain’s custom left-handed Fender Mustang guitar was sold for $340,000.
