A cardigan worn by Kurt Cobain during Nirvana’s iconic 1993 MTV Unplugged performance sold for an impressive $334,000, making it the most expensive sweater ever auctioned. The vintage olive-green cardigan, reportedly never washed, was sold by Julien’s Auctions during their Icons & Idols: Rock ‘N’ Roll event at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York. Kurt Cobain died by suicide at age 27, in April 1994, about six months after taping “Unplugged.”
At the same auction one of Cobain’s custom left-handed Fender Mustang guitar was sold for $340,000.
