An iconic 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 by Scaglietti, which was previously owned by the legendary actor and car enthusiast Steve McQueen, is set to be auctioned off at RM Sotheby’s Monterey event on 18-19 August 2023. From 2010 to 2013, this beauty was restored to Steve McQueen‘s specifications by Ferrari Classiche. It is accompanied by a factory build sheet, period correspondence from McQueen himself, and a comprehensive history report by marque expert Marcel Massini.
McQueen reportedly received the car on the set of Bullitt and it was originally finished in gold metallic paint. However, during his ownership, he had it repainted in the classic Chianti Red color, and fitted it with the wheels and wing mirror from the ultra-rare 275 GTS/4 NART Spyder that he had previously crashed.
Under the hood, the 275 GTB/4 boasts a powerful four-cam, 3.3-liter Colombo V12 engine that delivers an impressive 300 horsepower, allowing it to reach a top speed of 166.5 mph.
Ferrari only produced a limited number of 280 units between 1966 to 1968, which makes owning a vehicle like this an exceedingly rare opportunity.
It is anticipated that the car will fetch anywhere from $5 – $7 -$ 10 million USD at auction. With its timeless beauty and classic Italian style, this car is sure to turn heads wherever it goes. Any takers?
