Aston Martin and British titanium bicycle manufacturer J.Laverack have collaborated to develop a highly bespoke and possibly the most expensive real-world performance road bike, the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R. The collaboration introduces groundbreaking design elements, such as integrated brake calipers and a seamless aesthetic, resulting in a custom-made bicycle weighing as little as 7.5kg.
“Working with the team at Aston Martin has unlocked new ideas and innovations, the application of which has created a bicycle more advanced than anything currently available on the market. Working in collaboration with Aston Martin we have not only taken our titanium bicycles to new heights but have also unlocked true innovation within the cycling industry, creating a bicycle with unparalleled levels of craftsmanship and performance engineering” said Oliver Laverack, Co-founder of J.Laverack Bicycles. “Every component is designed to be part of the whole and to marry perfectly with the adjoining elements, achieving an unsurpassed degree of integration, which lays the foundation for the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R’s boltless design.”
The hand-built frame of the .1R is constructed with a blend of 3D-printed titanium lugs and carbon fiber tubes, showcasing manufacturing techniques more commonly seen in Formula One cars. The brakes feature a clever design claimed to be “the world’s first integrated brake calipers.” Each caliper is precision machined from a single block of high-strength aluminum, featuring four titanium pistons for exceptional modulation and control.
The customization process for each buyer is completely unique. Each owner will be invited to Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon for a full fitting session with the founders of J.Laverack, where they will have unlimited potential to customize their distinctively personalized bicycle. Bike buyers can choose from the same color palettes and trim options as those available for Aston Martin cars, allowing them to pair their bike with their car if desired.
The .1R bicycle requires over 1,000 hours of craftsmanship, with 515 hours of CNC machining for its high precision engineering masterpiece.
The price? The end consumer price is available only “on application.” The J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R is anticipated to come with a price that aligns with the cost of an Aston Martin automobile. To find out more about the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R check out the dedicated site.
