Inspired by Thierry Mugler’s iconic “Les Insectes” Spring 1997 haute couture collection, the French fashion house Mugler has collaborated with the South Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster to create a a line of futuristic sunglasses. Designed by Casey Cadwallader in collaboration with Gentle Monster, the eyewear capsule collection offers two distinct models: Spiral 01 and Spiral 02. Each comes in three colorways, resulting in a six-piece collection.
Spiral 01 features a geometric design adorned with tentacle-like spikes around the frame, drawing inspiration from Mugler’s Fourmis eyewear model, which debuted in the House’s Les Insectes couture collection in 1997. Featuring an amplified wide goggle shape, clear frames, and mirrored lenses, these Mugler sunglasses showcase the brand’s signature Spiral embossed line detail and chrome logo on the temples. The striking design is complemented by rubber nose pads behind the frame for added comfort. Price: $480.
The Spiral 02 frames also adopt an amplified goggle shape, featuring embossed line detailing across the silhouette and chrome branding etched onto the temples. Price: $380.
Colin Jones and Georgia Palmer lead the dynamic campaign, photographed by Theo Liu, which channels the spirit of visual innovators like Manfred Mugler and Helmut Newton.
The collection will be available tomorrow on fashion.mugler.com and gentlemonster.com, as well as in select stores and pop-up locations.
