Rick Owens has joined forces with Rimowa to unveil the limited-edition RIMOWA × Rick Owens Original Cabin Bronze. This exceptional creation, crafted from premium anodized aluminum, boasts a bold bronze exterior paired with a sumptuous leather-lined interior. Each bag is distinguished by its one-of-a-kind patinated finish, achieved through an intricate manual pigment application process, ensuring every piece is truly unique. Owens envisioned the suitcase as a tribute to the bronzed patinas of sculptures by masters such as Alberto Giacometti, Constantin Brâncuși, and Richard Serra
Quoted in the press release, the designer states, “No matter how far or long, I only bring one carry-on,” emphasizing that he always travels with just one carry-on bag, regardless of the distance or duration of the journey.
The Rimowa × Rick Owens Original Cabin in Bronze showcases a range of aesthetic elements, including a patinated finish that will evolve and deepen over time, Rimowa’s first fully leather interior crafted from full grain calf leather sourced directly from Rick Owens, custom nylon webbing with subtly embossed Rimowa × Rick Owens logos on the leather tabs, and a Rimowa canvas dust bag featuring a Rick Owens signature hue.
Conceived in Paris by Rick Owens and Rimowa, and meticulously crafted in Germany at the renowned Rimowa factory, this exclusive suitcase is limited to a mere 500 individually numbered pieces. Each is distinguished by a unique hair-on cowskin luggage tag and retails for $3,525. It will be available from both brands’ websites starting January 30.
