Swedish camera manufacturer Hasselblad unveiled the Lunar NEX camera at CP+ 2013 in Japan. This premium mirrorless camera combines Hasselblad’s legendary image capture technology with stunning Italian design elements.

The Lunar represents a significant shift in Hasselblad’s material choices. According to the company: “The Lunar embraces traditional Hasselblad state-of-the-art image capture combined with stunning Italian design features. For the first time, we are using carbon fiber, titanium, wood, leather, and precious metals—including gold.”

Premium Optics: New Zeiss Primes for NEX

The camera is shown paired with the upcoming Zeiss 12mm f/2.8 Distagon, one of three new prime lenses launching this summer. The complete lens lineup includes:

  • Zeiss 12mm f/2.8 Distagon
  • Zeiss 32mm f/1.8
  • Zeiss 50mm f/2.8 Macro

Pricing & Availability

The Hasselblad Lunar NEX is rumored to retail around $6,000, making it a significant investment for serious photographers and collectors. The premium materials and Swiss-Italian engineering justify the high-end price point.
