Someone is about to hang £82,000 on a Christmas tree. The world’s most expensive bauble comes from Embee Jewels of London, produced in association with Hallmark Jewellers. The piece is crafted from 18ct white gold and carries 1,578 diamonds across its surface. That works out to roughly $127,634, which would buy a small house in some parts of the world.
Instead it buys the flashiest ornament on the planet. A percentage of every sale goes to the National Autistic Society, the UK’s leading autism charity. So while the bauble itself is pure extravagance, the purchase at least puts some of that money toward a genuinely good cause.
Christmas is about giving, and this particular gift gives twice. Once to whoever receives it, and once to the families the NAS supports.
