A company called SpaceWed is betting there are couples who want their wedding bands to have a backstory no one else at the party can match. The Dubai-based brand launched its space jewelry line at Dubai International Jewellery Week and the pitch is simple: the gold inside these rings has actually been to space. On May 20, 2011 the company sent the gold up in a suborbital sounding rocket and brought it back. Each ring is engraved with a unique serial number and ships inside a custom Space Capsule box that includes a Certificate of Space Flight and a documentary of the launch. There are two options: space rings and space wedding rings. Prices run between $12,000 and $17,000 and only 50 sets will ever be produced.
