The House of Cartier has given us a sneak peek at the future of mechanical watches with the Cartier ID Two concept watch. This high-efficiency timepiece runs on a revolutionary movement that consumes 50% less energy while storing 30% more energy than a comparable mechanical movement. The ID Two uses the 42mm Calibre-style case, but with a twist. It’s made from Ceramyst, sealed using vacuum pressure with no screws in sight, and it looks damn good too. Somehow Cartier managed to squeeze 32 days of power reserve into the same volume as a standard box, which opens the path for the watchmaking of the future.
There’s just one catch. The Cartier ID Two is only a concept watch for now.
