German carmaker Mercedes-Benz presented the new SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive at the 2012 Paris motor show – the production supercar EV derived from the SLS E-Cell concept car. The SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive features four independent permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors, producing a combined 740 horsepower(552 kW) and a maximum torque of 1000 Nm, making it the most powerful production AMG model of all time. It reaches 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 155 mph (250 km) electronically limited. As for charging , the car will need 3 hours for a full charge with a special “wall-box” installation or 20 hours without it. The SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive will go on sale in Germany next year in June with a starting price of 416,500 euros (approx. $537,236 USD).
