German carmaker Mercedes-Benz presented the new SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive at the 2012 Paris motor show – the production supercar EV derived from the SLS E-Cell concept car. The SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive features four independent permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors, producing a combined 740 horsepower (552 kW) and a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm, making it the most powerful production AMG model of all time. It reaches 0–62 mph in 3.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) electronically limited. As for charging, the car will need 3 hours for a full charge with a special “wall-box” installation or 20 hours with a standard outlet. The SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive went on sale in Germany in June 2013 with a starting price of €416,500 (approximately $537,236 USD).
