It all began with a clock, leading Louis Vuitton to partner with a California-based design firm on two bespoke cars unveiled at Pebble Beach during Monterey Car Week. As for the clock that started it all, it’s actually detachable and doubles as a desk clock, featuring the Louis Vuitton name engraved across the bezel in twelve polished letters. It’s paired with a 40mm Tambour Automatic in ceramic and yellow gold.
“This unique and remarkable adventure began with a request for a dashboard clock for a car reimagined by Singer. In addition to the design and production of this clock by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton workshops in Switzerland, it quickly became apparent to us that this collaboration with Singer could extend to the personalisation of every functional element of the vehicle, enhancing them through our expertise in leather craftsmanship and watchmaking,” shares Jean Arnault, Louis Vuitton Watch Director.
The Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer Classic
Leading the pair is a Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer Classic. At its heart, this is a classic Singer reimagining of the Porsche 911.It boasts a carbon fiber body, ceramic brakes, a 4.0-liter flat-six engine, and a six-speed manual transmission. All of this is wrapped in a bespoke livery of saffron, cobalt blue, and yellow, which are the iconic colors of Louis Vuitton. Singer reimagined this Porsche 911 exactly how Louis Vuitton envisioned it, and the result makes one thing clear: this car was built for epic journeys. While its sleek, aerodynamic silhouette hints at the power under the hood, it’s the finer details that truly capture Louis Vuitton’s “Art of Travel.“
The Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer Classic Turbo
The other model in the duo is a Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer Classic Turbo. Conceived by Nicolas Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director of Women’s Collections, this cabriolet is finished in Calcaire Lutétien white and complemented by exquisite precious wood trim.
“Automotive design is a passion that has always lived within me. My collaboration with Singer has been a chance to reconnect with this fascinating world – a magnificent opportunity to explore truly exceptional automobiles,” highlights Nicolas Ghesquière.
Exclusive Louis Vuitton Capsule Collections
Each of these custom cars comes with its own exclusive capsule collection. This includes everything from handcrafted clothing and jackets to 1950s-style helmets, sunglasses, and luggage. The 911 Classic even takes it a step further with a matching Louis Vuitton surfboard and set of skis.
Who knew the missing piece in the automotive world was a car that looks like a designer handbag? Apparently, Singer did. As for pricing though, who knows? Both vehicles are one-off commissions for a private client.
