“The pursuit of perfection” — Ducati has revealed a new flagship model for its motorcycle lineup, the 2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale R. Unveiled at the 2012 EICMA show, the 1199 Panigale R will be the lightest superbike in the range. Based on the S model, it features lighter components, engine modifications, ABS as standard, an adjustable swingarm pivot, a race-kit exhaust, and carbon trim.
Performance has also been optimized. Revised engine mapping improves the Superquadro engine’s crank acceleration and allows it to rev 500 rpm higher, to a 12,000 rpm limit, producing 195 hp (143 kW). The 1199 R will retail for $29,995 and will be available in Ducati Red with white highlights, along with red and brushed aluminum accents on the fuel tank and lightweight black forged wheels by Marchesini.
