Breitling has released a special all-black version edition of its Navitimer Cosmonaute timepiece – the first ever watch to accompany Lt Commander Scott Carpenter into space in 1962. Limited to only 1,000 pieces, the Navitimer Cosmonaute Blacksteel features a 43 mm case in black steel created using a highly resistant carbon-based coating, accompanying black dials and subdials and fitted with a black rubber strap. The engraved caseback bears the official Aurora 7 mission insignia. Inside is the COSC-certified, in-house B02 manual wind chronograph movement with 70-hour power reserve. The Cosmonaute Blacksteel will retail for US$9590.
