French fashion house Maison Martin Margiela and Converse have finally unveiled details of their highly-anticipated collaboration. Chuck Taylor All Star and Jack Purcell sneakers are completely hand-painted in iconic white paint – in Margiela’s iconic white.
“The Maison has always been obsessed with white; it is used as a layer to give an incognito feeling. A sort of poetry, with the passage of time, the shoe asserts itself,” says Maison Martin Margiela.
The sneakers have been dipped in paint, including the outer sole, eyelets and laces; these shoes crack over time as they are worn, revealing one of four colors underneath the paint (red, black, navy, and Margiela-exclusive vintage yellow) . The Converse Maison Martin Margiela sneakers will be available for purchase globally for a suggested retail price of $200 USD at Margiela stores, and at select Converse First String retailers.
