World’s Biggest Blue Diamond May Fetch $25 Million

The world’s biggest fancy vivid blue pear-shaped diamond is estimated to fetch $21 to $25 million at Christie’s Geneva “Magnificent Jewels” sale on May 14. Called “The Blue,” and weighing approximately 13.22 carats, it is the “the largest flawless vivid blue diamond in the world,” according to the auction house. The 250 lot sale will also feature many important coloured and colourless diamonds, rare natural pearl necklaces, and is expected to achieve a total in the region of US$80 million.

*UPDATE: The blue diamond has been sold for CHF 21,445,000 ( approx. $ 21,713,910 USD).
