Lamborghini unveiled this morning at the 2014 Paris Motor Show something genuinely unexpected – the Asterion LPI 910-4, the brand’s first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology demonstrator. Officially called the Asterion, another name for the mythical Minotaur, part man and part bull, is powered by a mid-mounted 602bhp 5.2-litre V10 (borrowed from the Huracan) with a trio of electric motors for a total of 669 kW/910 hp, 0-62mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 199mph (320 km/h). Designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile, the Asterion pays a respectful homage to Lamborghini DNA and heritage.
“Lamborghini is always looking ahead, investing in new technologies and setting new benchmarks, delivering the unexpected,” says Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
