The ultimate off-roader? Mercedes-Benz has unveiled another extreme version of its G-Wagen, the G500 4×4², ahead of its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2015. Under the hood is the an all-new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 422 horsepower, 40 more than the stock G500.
‘Whether and when the decision on series production of the Mercedes-Benz G 500 4×4² will be made depends on the reaction which the near-series show car receives,’ the company says.
Those massive wheels you see are 22-inch rims wrapped in 325/55 rubber or optionally, special off-road 18-inch beadlock wheels. The ‘post-apocalypse’ G 500 4×4² reaches the highest offroad performance, thanks to the permanent four-wheel drive and the proven portal axles.
