The ultimate off-roader? Mercedes-Benz has unveiled another extreme version of its G-Wagen, the G500 4×4², ahead of its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2015. Under the hood is an all-new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 422 horsepower, 40 more than the stock G500.
“Whether and when the decision on series production of the Mercedes-Benz G 500 4×4² will be made depends on the reaction which the near-series show car receives,” the company says.
Those massive wheels you see are 22-inch rims wrapped in 325/55 rubber or, optionally, special off-road 18-inch beadlock wheels. The “post-apocalypse” G 500 4×4² achieves the highest off-road performance thanks to permanent four-wheel drive and proven portal axles.
