A super rare 1954 BMW RS 54 is hitting RM Sotheby’s upcoming Villa Erba sale on May 27, 2017. The RS 54 is a masterpiece of engineering, is powered by a 45 hp, 500-cc DOHC horizontally opposed two-cylinder engine, driven by transverse shafts and conical gears. Only 24 examples were produced by BMW in the 1954, and this has been gorgeously restored by former factory racer Kurt Busch in the mid-1980s. “In 1998, this RS 54 was ridden by Kees Koster in the Centennial Classic TT in Assen, as homage to his 500-cc championship attempt on a BMW Rennsport.” So, any takers?
