Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille introduced in collaboration with Pharrell Williams the RM 52-05, a timepiece that bear his name. The collaborative timepiece features a brown cermet case ( a material that combines the lightness of titanium with the hardness of a ceramic), a caseband in Carbon TPT® (a material that has become a hallmark of Richard Mille) and a dial that allows you to see an imaginary scene on Mars.
The multi award-winning singer, songwriter and producer says the design was inspired by his longtime love of space: ‘I’ve always been fascinated by looking up at the sky. What could be more inspiring than all that ever was and all that ever will be? Space, before your eyes. It’s yours to see. It was here before the Earth, before this Solar System. It’ll be here after us and nothing’s more meaningful than that. When I look up at the sky I’m looking at God. I feel part of so many different parts of a whole. This is the Alpha and the Omega.’
Inside is the the RM52-05, a manual winding tourbillon movement with hours and minutes and a 42-hour power reserve.
“With the RM 52-05, we’ve looked at Mars from a different angle, an unexpected first-person point of view. We have the best timekeeper in the world. We have Mars. And we have an African-American man from Virginia, all connected.” – Pharrell.
The RM 52-05 Tourbillon Pharrell Williams will be limited to only 30 pieces and will be available exclusively at Richard Mille boutiques worldwide for a retail price of $969,000. For more detailed info visit Richard Mille’s website.
