British automaker McLaren had quite a busy year in terms of new releases, recently has unveiled the 620R, a road-legal version of the 570S GT4. Based around the 570S GT4’s single-piece carbon fibre Monocell II chassis, the 620R is lighter, and will powered by the same twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 found in the standard 570S/GT and GT4 car, but it’s upped to produce 610 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. Performance specs? Well, 0-62mph takes 2.9secs, 0-124mph takes 8.1secs and the top speed is a nice round 200mph.
“The McLaren 620R is a limited edition, superlight coupe that is the perfect choice for an enthusiast wanting an authentic motorsport driving sensation – and performance to match – on both track and road” – Mike Flewitt , CEO, McLaren Automotive
McLaren is only building 350 of them, the starting price is $299,000, and production will begin in January 2020.
Well if you’ve ever wanted to see how one of those beasts would perform on the road, now is your chance. Tempted?
