Porsche Design is celebrating its 50th anniversary in a big way by offering two extraordinary design icons at auction: a one-of-a-kind 1972 911 S 2.4 Targa and a unique Chronograph 1 – 911 S 2.4 Targa. The exceptionally restored Porsche is finished in black and features a Targa roll bar in a Platinum Satin finish, original historic materials such as black Sport-Tex checkered flag upholstery, and side stripes embossed with “50 Years of Porsche Design Edition,” among other exclusive details.
“We deliberately took a different approach with this project. We’ve created a unique vehicle that blends tradition and present day, and bears the signature of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche.” – explains Uwe Makrutzki, Head of Porsche Classic Factory Restoration at Porsche AG.
Estimated to fetch between $275,000 USD – $325,000 USD, the one-of-a-kind 1972 911 S 2.4 Targa and the Chronograph 1 – 911 S 2.4 Targa will be sold as part of Sotheby’s Luxury Week New York this December, and presented for the first time outside of Europe at Monterey Car Week 2022.

Based on the legendary Porsche Design Chronograph I, this unique piece, the Chronograph 1 – 911 S 2.4 Targa features on the case back a rotor that is designed to resemble the car’s iconic Fuchsfelge wheel of the Porsche 911 S 2.4 Targa from 1972.
