Inspired by the Italian special forces, Panerai unveiled two new special edition to its Submersible lineup, the Submersible Forze Speciali Experience Edition PAM01238 and Submersible Forze Speciali PAM01239. Founded in 1860, the brand supplied the Italian Navy with high-precision watches for the special diving units, for well over a century before they were made available to the public in 1993.
The first model Panerai Submersible Forze Speciali Experience PAM01238 boast a green camouflage colorway, is limited to just 50 pieces and sells for a whopping $57,500. As the name suggests the Experience Edition comes with an invitation, each buyer will be invited to participate in a series of exercises with Italian Special Forces, putting the timepieces to the test. Good luck with that!
Both models are housed in a DLC-coated titanium cases measuring 47mm and are fitted with unidirectional rotating bezels made in ceramic. The military-inspired dial features hour markers made from dots of Super-LumiNova and includes chronographs positioned at 3 and 9-o’clock, each designed fittingly in the shape of a target.
The second model Submersible Forze Speciali PAM01239 features a blue bezel and black caoutchouc strap. This model is not quite as limited, 300 will be released each year, starting with 2022 – this piece sells for $29,300. On the caseback is an engraving of a Marina Militare frogman.
Inside, both models are powered by Panerai’s in-house P.9100/R automatic mechanical movement beating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) with an impressive three-day power reserve.
