Swedish manufacturer of premium electric boats Candela teamed up with Polestar on a special edition of the C-8, the Candela C-8 Polestar edition. Drawing inspiration from Polestar’s minimalist aesthetic, the all-electric hydrofoil is built on the same carbon fiber hull as the existing Candela C-8 and features a sleek gray exterior color is complimented with a lighter gray tone across the interior. The boat’s hydrofoils are coated with the eye-catching Swedish gold paint, mirroring the distinct appearance found on Polestar’s cars.
“Candela’s hydrofoil technology is a paradigm shift for sustainable performance in the marine industry,” Maximilian Missoni, head of design at Polestar, said in a statement. “Like the first time driving an electric car, you instantly feel that this is the future when the boat ‘takes off’—and now with the special gold details that we so proudly exhibit on our cars.”
Equipped with a 69 kWh battery and utilizing the same charging hardware found in the Polestar 2, the boat boasts an impressive range of 57 nautical miles (66 miles or 106 km) and can reach speeds of up to 22 knots (25 mph or 41 kph). The boat is equipped with a Candela C-POD, a 75-kW electric drive pod motor.
Built at Candela’s yard in Stockholm, the Candela C-8 Polestar starts at €400,000 or $450,000 USD.
Deliveries are expected to begin in June 2024.
