Urwerk Space-Time Blade for Only Watch Resembles a Lightsaber

Urwerk Space-Time Blade Urwerk consistently captures attention with their contribution to Only Watch, and this occasion showcases something other than a watch, a masterpiece of glowing magic – the Space-Time Blade. Encapsulated in glass by the talented Dalibor Farny, this remarkable masterpiece harmonizes artistic expression with meticulous precision. Central to this extraordinary timepiece lies a radiant and evocatively reminiscent homage to Nixie tubes: originally introduced in the 1950s, these tubes swiftly gained renown for their distinctive method of illuminating numerals through glow discharge.Urwerk Space-Time Blade for Only Watch

Standing 1.62 m tall and weighing 40 kg, the one-off timepiece Space-Time Blade is contained within a glass enclosure and positioned atop a bronze pedestal. Powered by a Urwerk concept caliber, the Space-Time Blade timepiece not only exhibits the hours, minutes, and seconds, but also presents the Earth’s rotational distance, elegantly expressed in kilometers.

Upon activation of the current, individual cathodes become enveloped in a unique orange luminescence, orchestrating a captivating and entrancing spectacle. The presentation has the capacity to transform at a staggering frequency of up to 100,000 occurrences per second.

Projected to fetch between 45,000 and 80,000 CHF (roughly $51,311 to $91,219 USD), the Space-Time Blade is set to be auctioned at the Only Watch event on November 5, 2023 in Geneva, Switzerland. The proceeds from this auction will contribute to the Monaco Association against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies AMM).
