Get your freak on – Building upon the legacy of the iconic Freak Collection, Ulysse Nardin has introduced an exciting reinterpretation of its groundbreaking timepiece. Revealed at Watches and Wonders Shanghai, the latest addition, the Freak X OPS, injects a vibrant burst of color and a dash of “tact-i-cool” flair into the collection. Even though the Freak design has a history spanning more than two decades, it manages to maintain a sense of novelty with each fresh interpretation.
Encased within a 43mm wide x 13.38mm thick titanium shell, adorned with a sophisticated black DLC finish, the watch exudes a sense of adventurous ruggedness. The carbon fiber composite flanks are colored khaki green, which adds a touch of earthiness and adventure. The watch is completed with a fabric strap in a distinctive khaki green hue, meticulously crafted entirely from repurposed fishing nets.
Inside is the 206-component movement, which is identical to the caliber UN-230 manufacture movement featured in the other models within the Freak X series. This movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and boasts an impressive power reserve of 72 hours.
The Freak X Ops carries a price tag of $33,800 USD, representing a notable uptick from the standard carbon fiber and titanium choices, yet it remains considerably more affordable than the earlier metal alternatives.
