Louis Vuitton is bringing a new metal to the Tambour Convergence family. The Maison calls it Mirror Steel, and it marks a clear change of direction for a collection that has lived in precious metals until now.
The Tambour name comes from the French word for drum, a nod to the rounded case profile the line has carried since 2002. The Convergence arrived in 2025 as the first guichet-style watch designed entirely in-house at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. After a run of gold and platinum editions, this stainless steel version is built for everyday wear and arrives at a noticeably lower price.
Hardened Mirror Steel Case & Dimensions
Measuring 37mm by 8mm the watch uses a custom hardened stainless steel. A patented treatment gives the case lugs and crown a mirror finish and increases hardness to 1,130 Vickers. Since it is nearly six times harder than ordinary steel it handles scratches well. Louis Vuitton claims the polished finish allows minor marks to disappear into the shine.
The In-House LFT MA01.01 Movement
Powering the watch is the automatic LFT MA01.01 manufacture caliber from the original Tambour Convergence. This is the first automatic time-only movement fully designed and made by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. It offers a power reserve of 45 hours and operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour.
The Montre à Guichet Gliding Time Display
Hours and minutes are shown on two rotating brass discs with black numbers and rhodium finishes. These appear through a scalloped opening at 12 o’clock in what LV calls a dragging hours and minutes display. Unlike a jumping hour mechanism that shifts instantly the time here glides. This style comes from the French montres à guichet tradition of using windows instead of a regular dial.
Price and Strap Specifications
The watch pairs a grey saffiano calfskin leather strap with an LV engraved hardened steel buckle. It costs $25,200 on the official Louis Vuitton website and is available now.
