The wait is finally over. Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the 2016 AMG GT, the second sports car developed fully independently by Mercedes-AMG. There are two models, the GT and GT S, both packing the newly developed 4.0-liter V-8 biturbo engine, internally dubbed the M178. The GT is rated at 456 hp (340 kW) and 443 lb-ft. of torque, while the GT S pumps out 503 hp (375 kW) at 6,250 rpms and 479 lb-ft. of torque between 1,750 and 4,750 rpms.

“With the new Mercedes-AMG GT, we are venturing out into a challenging sports car segment with its top-class competitive field. This is an incentive and motivation for us at the same time to prove to sports car enthusiasts around the world the kind of performance that AMG is capable of”, says Prof Dr Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Group Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development.

Inside, the inspiration is drawn from aviation, that interior is insanely breathtaking. The interior design also embodies maximum emotion and sensual purity. Radically low, sporty proportions create a unique sense of spaciousness. The 2016 AMG GT S launches in the US in the spring of 2015, and the standard GT comes a year later.
