Blake Lively just landed one of the most coveted gigs in fashion. The Gossip Girl star fronts the new campaign for Chanel’s Mademoiselle handbag line, and Karl Lagerfeld himself is behind the camera. That detail alone tells you this is a big deal. Lagerfeld does not shoot campaigns for just anyone, and his involvement usually means the house sees a long term ambassador rather than a one season face.
Lively seems to know it. Here is what she told WWD: “I have such respect and appreciation for fashion that if there are people like Karl Lagerfeld designing, who am I to say no? I want to bow down to them and be a representative for them if they will have me.”
That quote is pure Blake. Self aware, a little reverent and completely aware of how rare this moment is. The Mademoiselle line gets a fresh face with genuine fashion credibility, and Lively gets the Lagerfeld seal of approval that most actresses spend whole careers chasing.
