Gucci Museum Opens in Florence

To celebrate Gucci’s 90th anniversary, Italian fashion label inaugurated a museum in its hometown of Florence, that will display some of their brand’s best designs to date, since 1921. “As Gucci turns 90 this year, I felt it was the right moment to inaugurate our own space, where hidden treasures would be open to public viewing for the first time. In this way the Gucci Museo will both conserve and celebrate the most significant moments in the history of the house, providing an official account of its origins, evolution and cultural influence.” said creative director Frida Giannini in a statement. Housed inside the historic Palazzo della Mercanzia, which is located in Florence’s Piazza Signoria, opens today to the public and remain permanently open throughout the year from September 28, 2011.
