Maurice Lacroix gave us an early look at the Masterpiece Gravity before Baselworld 2014, and I like what I see. The case measures 43mm and comes in two finishes. Satin brushed and polished steel, or sandblasted steel with an anthracite PVD coating. The dial is white lacquer with Clou de Paris and Côtes de Genève Colimaçon patterns. Blued or rhodium plated hands, plus a small seconds display with either a blued or red hand. It sounds busy on paper, but the early images show real restraint.
Inside beats the ML230, an in-house automatic caliber with 35 jewels, a relaxed 18,000 vph beat rate and a 50 hour power reserve. AR coated sapphire covers the front, a display back shows off the movement, and the case is water resistant to 50 meters.
A brown or black crocodile strap with a folding clasp completes the package. No pricing yet, which is standard for a pre-Basel teaser. We will update this post the moment Maurice Lacroix opens the books.
