Nicolas Ghesquière’s first months at Louis Vuitton came with pressure. His answer? The Crocodile Lady Bag PM, a piece that showed up on the Fall 2014 runway and immediately made it clear this wasn’t business as usual.
The bag is cut entirely from crocodile, in black or a deep cognac. Dimensions are 12.6 x 8.3 x 5.5 inches, so it’s not a micro‑bag; it’s meant to be used. But then there’s the price: $54,500. At that point, function takes a back seat to the fact that you’re carrying what basically amounts to a small investment on your arm.
At that price, the question isn’t really about practicality; it’s about whether you want a bag that quietly complements your wardrobe or one that announces itself the moment you walk into a room. This bag is significantly pricier than any of the other Fall 2014 seasonal pieces we spotted online, and I’d be surprised if it even makes it onto the Vuitton website.
