A beautiful 1968 De Tomaso Mangusta by Ghia will be offered at the RM Auctions sale at Villa Erba, Italy, on May 23, 2015. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and built by famed Turin coachbuilder Ghia, the car has been authentically restored. Bearing chassis no. 8MA608, the Mangusta’s technical specifications remain impressive: a 271 bhp, 289 cu. in. OHV V‑8 engine; five‑speed ZF manual transmission; unequal‑length wishbone front suspension with coil springs and an anti‑roll bar; wide‑base unequal‑length wishbone rear suspension with trailing arms, coil springs and an anti‑roll bar; and four‑wheel power‑assisted Girling disc brakes.

Italian coachbuilding rarities continue to draw serious attention at auction — around the same time, a rare 1967 Bizzarrini P538 also headed to the block, a reminder of how sought-after these low-volume Italian machines from the era have become.
