The German automaker has just revealed its brand-new BMW 8 Series Concept Coupe, at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy. Painted in an exclusive Barcelona Grey Liquid hue, the super luxurious concept rides on 21-inch wheels, and comes with a massive curved kidney grille, narrow headlights, and a very low hood.
BMW has used the Lake Como show before: a year earlier it unveiled the 2002 Hommage there, a tribute marking 50 years since the first 02, with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six making 370 bhp.
At the interior, the cabin is focused on a single task: driving, highlights include carbon fiber shell sport seats, carbon fiber, aluminum accents with contrasting brown and white leather.
“The forthcoming BMW 8 Series coupe will demonstrate that razor-sharp dynamics and modern luxury can go hand-in-hand,” BMW chairman Harald Krüger says. “This will be the next model in the expansion of our luxury-car offering and will raise the benchmark for coupes in the segment. In the process, we will strengthen our claim to leadership in the luxury class.”
That appetite for high-octane performance is nothing new for the Bavarian brand, which recently reminded audiences of its raw driving pedigree through the tire-shredding stunt sequences in BMW Films’ action short The Escape.
No word on technical details, such as dimensions, power figures and other technologies. It looks extremely promising.
