In 1972, Jack Heuer offered to Swedish racing driver Ronnie Peterson for his outstanding performance in the German Grand Prix on the Nürburgring circuit, a one of a kind Carrera 1158 CHN – that watch is on display at the Tag Heuer Museum. Now TAG Heuer has produced a replica of the original to benefit the Ronnie Peterson Memorial Foundation, honouring his legacy and supporting talents in motor sport.
Housed in a 38mm 18K gold case, with a matching gold Milanese bracelet, the Carrera Gold-RP-R features a champagne dial with black subdials and like the original, it has “SUCCESS RONNIE PETERSON FROM JACK.W.HEUER” engraved on the back. Inside is the Jewelled Cal.11 automatic movement.
The 18K gold Ronnie Peterson Carrera will go on sale at Bonhams’ Monaco automotive auction, Les Grandes Marques à Monaco, on May 11, 2018, with an estimate of €20,000 to €30,000. For more info visit Bonhams’ website.
*update : The one of a kind timepiece was sold for €97,750.
